Spitsbergen

Spitsbergen is the main island of Svalbard, north of Norway.
This is where you see polar bears in the wild white vastness of ice
and glaciers that make up its world. They are usually solitary animals
hunting seals on the ice but when the ship approaches
they are often curious and come close us
- their creamy fur glistening in the sunlight,
their dark eyes close enough to give you a thrill.

Imagine sailing through sea ice in the midnight sun,
the light reflecting above and below. Walk on the tundra to see
colonies of little auks amidst gardens of mosses and tiny flowers.
